Welcome to the Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible division of the Plymouth Township Police Department.  As with every Police Department it is the 'backbone' of the department.  Uniform officers, using various types of marked patrol vehicles, staff the Patrol Division.

 About Us

The Patrol Division is responsible for all types of emergency and non-emergency calls for service.  In order to be prepared, Plymouth Township Police Officers undergo training though out their entire career as a Police Officer.  Keeping abreast of changes in the law enforcement field is an ongoing process.  It is the responsibility of each police department to train all officers in their core tasks within their job description.  In addition to those duties, members of the Patrol Division are also assigned to the K-9 Unit and the Special Operations Team.

Plymouth Township Police Department's mission of serving the public is greatly enhanced through its dedication to keeping its officers fully trained and equipped in order to meet the changing needs within the Public Safety Community.  The Police Officer Training required by the Plymouth Township Police Department allows for the department to take pride in the fact that we go well beyond the mandatory training that the state and federal government requires.

The law enforcement community within the United States offers formal and informational schooling in every aspect of police work.  Police officers at Plymouth Township take advantage of these schools each year, which keeps us at the leading edge of law enforcement capability.

In addition to the 'typical' police training, members of the police department also are sent to Cultural Diversity, Harassment, dealing with Mentally Impaired Individuals and foreign language training.  Supervisors are sent to Supervision Classes.

Those instructors can conduct training and qualify officers within our department in their field of expertise.  This is a very cost effective and time saving technique of keeping our department well trained.

The Patrol Division is prepared to meet any challenge and it is reflected through our high level of commitment, training and fitness.   Most, if not all, of the below areas of study or equipment are initially taught by certified instructors outside of our department.
